LEADERSHIP

Vanessa King,

President


Vanessa King is an experienced trial lawyer. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Central Florida in 2005 and her law degree from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2011. She served more than three years as an Assistant State Attorney where she specialized in the prosecution of career criminals.

During her time as both a prosecutor and a criminal defense lawyer, she has tried various charges including vehicular homicide, attempted murder, armed robbery, and carjacking. Since leaving the State Attorney’s Office in 2014, she has practiced in the areas of criminal defense (state and federal), civil litigation, nursing home defense, administrative/licensure law, auto negligence, and personal injury. 

Vanessa was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award presented by the Florida Council on Crime and Delinquency. She is rated as one of the “10 Best Attorneys” in Exceptional and Outstanding Client Service by the American Institute of Criminal Law Attorneys, rated AV Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell®, a Rising Star by Super Lawyers and Top 40 under 40 by The National Trial Lawyers.

Vanessa is a member of the Federal Bar Association-Tampa Bay Chapter, St. Petersburg Bar Association, Clearwater Bar Association, Florida Association for Women Lawyers-Pinellas, Pinellas Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers – Past President, current FACDL chapter representative, Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (FACDL), BNI and the Better Business Bureau.  She is the currently secretary of the Pinellas County Trial Lawyers Association, Treasurer for Barney Masterson Inn of Court and Board Member of Great Explorations Children’s Museum.   

In her free time, Vanessa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, going to the dog park with her Labrador/Husky mix, Ruthie Bader Ginsbark, and taking advantage of all the local events and festivities that the Tampa Bay area has to offer.

Justin Reep, 

Vice-President

Justin Reep is the founding attorney of Reep & Coleman Trial Attorneys.

Justin is a Florida native who grew up in Jupiter, FL. Justin graduated from William T. Dwyer High School's Academy of Finance before attending the University of Central Florida where he graduated with a Bachelor's of Science in Economics.

After college Justin became a valuable member of Cliff Sterns' Congressional office in Washington, DC. before returning to Florida to attend and graduate from Ave Maria School of Law. 

After passing the bar exam, Justin became an Assistant State Attorney in Pinellas County where he focused on traffic-related crimes before being promoted to felony cases involving charges such as first-degree murder. 

Mary Katherine Campbell,

Secretary

Mary Katherine Campbell, a Criminal Defense Attorney at Denmon Pearlman, was born and raised in Georgia. She earned a bachelor’s degree in International Relations and a certificate in Global Studies from the University of Georgia. Next, Mary Katherine moved to Florida and earned her J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport.

While in Florida, Mary Katherine spent six months as an Inmate Correspondence and Intake Intern with the Innocence Project of Florida. This experience solidified her passion for working in Criminal Defense. She has also worked as an intern for the Bay County Public Defender’s Office.

Mary Katherine competed regionally and nationally as a member of Stetson University’s Trial Team. Stetson’s Trial Team is ranked #1 in the United States, and the university itself is ranked #1 in the country for trial advocacy. Mary Katherine was a National Semifinalist in the American Association for Justice (AAJ) Competition.

While in law school, Mary Katherine was a Teaching Assistant for a Trial Advocacy course taught by Denmon Pearlman Partner and Trial Attorney Lee Pearlman. She worked for Denmon Pearlman for about 18 months as a Law Clerk and is currently a Criminal Defense Attorney handling DUIs, drug charges, and arrest warrants.

Mary Katherine is an avid University of Georgia football fan. She also enjoys cooking and gardening.

Emily K. VanOosting is currently an Associate Counsel for the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office where she practices a mix of criminal & civil law in both State and Federal Courtrooms. 

Emily was born and raised in St. Petersburg graduating from St. Petersburg High School before attending Stetson University in DeLand, FL. While at Stetson University., Emily earned her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a major in International Business and a minor in Spanish. 

After undergrad, Emily attended Stetson University College of Law where she was a member of the nationally ranked Trial Team and graduated with a concentration in Trial Advocacy. Emily stays connected with Stetson Law and is currently an Adjunct Professor teaching Trial Advocacy as well as an Advocacy Skills Advisor where she coaches various Trial Team competition teams as well as coaches the Dispute Resolution Board's Client Counseling competition team each spring.

After law school Emily began her career with the Pinellas County State Attorney's Office where she spent more than 10 years as an Assistant State Attorney. During her career Emily specialized in cases involving child victims, traffic homicide charges, and gang prosecutions.

Outside of PCTLA, Emily is also involved in the legal community as a member of the Clearwater Bar Association, the St. Petersburg Bar Association (where Emily is the Government Law Chair & Paraclete Committee member), the Pinellas County Chapter of the Florida Association of Women Lawyers (where Emily is the Website Chair), the Federal Bar Association (where Emily is on the Professional Development Committee), Barney Masterson Inn of Court, and the Florida Association of Police Attorneys.

Outside of the law Emily is a member of the St. Petersburg Junior League Association and enjoys running and boating with her husband, Andrew and their dog, Duke.

Frank McDermott, Immediate Past President

Frank McDermott is a 25 year veteran criminal defense and personal injury attorney. He is a board certified criminal trial attorney. He is the managing partner of McDermott Law Firm, P.A. with locations in Seminole, and Cedar Key Florida.  Mr. McDermott also served as the 2015 President of PCTLA and the 2016 Vice President.


Anthony Nunnally,

 Past President

Anthony W. Nunnally is the Managing Partner and Owner of the Nunnally Law Firm, practicing both personal injury and criminal defense.   Anthony received his undergraduate degree in criminology from the University of South Florida in 2013 and his law degree from Stetson University College of Law in 2018.  After some trial intensive clinic programs, Anthony worked as an assistant public defender handling everything from misdemeanors, domestic violence, juvenile delinquency, and felonies.

During his time at the public defender’s office, he handled several jury and non-jury trials.  Since leaving the Public Defender’s Office, Anthony has practiced first party property, auto negligence/personal injury matters, and extensively in criminal defense (state and federal). He is licensed in the State of Florida and in the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

While Anthony is also the past president of PCTLA, he is also active throughout the legal community and elsewhere.  Anthony is the 2024 St. Petersburg Bar Association Young Lawyers Section President after having been the VP last year.  He is involved in the Clearwater Bar Association, the Pinellas Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys, and the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys.  Anthony also volunteers his time as the alumnus advisor for the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at the University of South Florida and is an active member of the Krewe of the Knights of Sant Yago.
